Oppenau is a town located in the state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Oppenau is situated in the Rench valley in the Black Forest. The nearest major cities are Offenburg and Freudenstadt. Oppenau was founded in the 12th century. All Saints' Abbey ("Allerheiligenkloster"), founded in 1192, gained power in 1316, Subsequently Oppenau belonged to the bishops of Strasbourg. After the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss in 1803, Oppenau became part of Baden.
