The city Tönisvorst is located on the Lower Rhine in the west of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and is a central district town of Viersen in the administrative district of Dusseldorf . It consists of the two originally separate capitals St. Tönis and Vorst - with the latter in terms of area is the largest district, but less than a quarter of the inhabitants of houses - as well as the settlements Lasch hut and Kehn .
